Our rooms

At The Lodge we have four stages to ensure that your child will feel comfortable and confident. Children will move from each room depending on their age or on their development and progress. Contact Lodge Day Nursery for further information.

All four rooms follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum in the seven areas of learning:

  • Communication and language
  • Physical development
  • Personal, social and emotional development
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the world
  • Expressive arts and design

Discoverers

The baby room is for children aged 3 months to 21 months. It is a welcoming, calming space which caters for all your baby’s needs. There is plenty of time and attention focused on each child with high staff to child ratios. With defined areas for older and younger babies, children can experience a wide variety of activities, from reading areas to educational toys. We will follow your child’s home routine and they will have their own allocated cot for the days they are with us. Your baby’s bed linen, kept in their own bag, is washed and provided by us.

Explorers

Children between the ages of 22 months and 32 months will get the opportunity to explore and create, playing with sensory toys and enjoying messy play. There is story time, dancing, crafting and lots of opportunities to start becoming independent, both inside and outside in our wonderful garden which can be used all year round.

Adventurers

The Adventurers, from 33 months to the September after their 3rd birthday, follow more of a routine. After breakfast they have play and activities, both directed and free flow, and there are opportunities for lots of outdoor time, straight outside the door or in our woodland area which is a short walk away. The environment has a range of stimulating and exciting activities to fire their imagination so they can learn through play.

Pre School

Pre School

The Pre School children, from the September after their 3rd birthday to the September after their 4th birthday,  learn through well-planned and unstructured play with opportunities to explore in the excellent outdoor play area. They develop independent skills whilst accessing free flow provision, as well as starting some more gently structured activities to help ease their transition into the Reception Class. They have subject specialist sessions during term time for PE, music, dance, drama and library time.
